Point of View

Party of Two is told in the third-person point-of-view through the eyes of two characters: Olivia Monroe and Maxwell Powell. The narrator is extremely close to the characters, allowing the reader to see their direct thoughts on certain matters. The point-of-view also shifts in the middle of chapters so that each character’s feelings on the same activity can be explored. One example of this is from the Hollywood Bowl when the reader sees Max’s excitement over the event compared to Olivia’s fear. Another example is from the trip to Hawaii. Max comes up with it on a whim, and Olivia seems to agree to it without much thought.
