Olivia Monroe
Olivia is one of the two third-person narrators who works at her own law firm, Monroe and Spencer. Olivia’s personality is the exact opposite of Max’s in that she must always think things through for an extensive amount of time before making a decision. Olivia is always nervous about split-second ideas but hides her emotions by pretending that everything is alright. She spends most of the novel drowning in anxiety but slowly begins to relax more as the story continues. Olivia also cares for her community, as shown by her volunteer work at the community center and how she wishes to help kids who were arrested like she was as a teenager.
Olivia’s love for Max is something that takes more time to develop than his love for her, as she frequently second-guesses herself and wonders if she is the right person for him...
