Summary

Chapter Eight opens with Olivia heading home with Jamila. She is proud of the work she has done and feels a sense of camaraderie with the workers. She wonders why she told Max the truth and admits to herself that she cannot stop thinking about him despite wanting a low-key relationship. Jamila says she wants to get the teens into holding out into the community center. The two then go to buy Olivia a car. At lunch, Jamila asks Olivia if she is used to men taking her ideas.
