Chapters 5 through 8 Summary

In chapter five, one of the soldiers is injured and he makes a stretcher to carry him home. The group traveled to the site in a wagon that was destroyed in the blast, meaning they'll have to walk. They don't have a map but Gianna suggests they go to a nearby farming community rather than heading for East Meadow. They begin the slow trip on foot and Kira is surprised when Jayden leads the group into a wooded area along the road. They reach a house and Kira catches a glimpse of a flash of light, indicating someone is there. Just then a voice calls out a warning. The man is initially skeptical of their identity but eventually invites them inside.
