The Fourth Notebook, The First Cavale, Continued Summary and Analysis

In "Trinidad," Papillion and Maturette answer questions posed by the authorities, including their charges and whether they had injured anyone during their escape. They are told they must leave within eighteen days and that the country's navy will refit their boat. Mr. Bowen's daughter says that they will help gather the necessary supplies for the trip. Mr. Bowen makes some phone calls on their behalf, learning that Curacao will allow them to dock there for a few days to rest during their voyage, and that Columbia has no procedure for returning escapees because no one has ever made it that far.
