Summary
In Chapter 16, “Oliver, 2015,” Oliver and Tammy were in a meeting at Steinway & Appleton. Although he had helped her get the job, Oliver had “warned her not to bring up” their connection or her relationship with Vince, the Van Fleet client’s son (178). After the meeting, Tammy shared her concerns with Oliver about Kip’s decisions. Oliver dismissed her worries.
Tammy and Oliver were training for the company’s “pro bono marathon challenge” (180). Oliver had come to rely on the training, thankful for the excuse to spend time with Tammy. In September, when they finally ran the race, he was sad their runs would end.
After the race, Oliver had the impulse to kiss Tammy. Although he resisted, Oliver confessed the truth about his grandfather. Tammy comforted him. They both said they loved one another.
