Chapters 17 and 18 Summary

Katie realizes how much she likes Tommy as he approaches her. He starts to tell her that he doesn't know what she thinks last night was about but that he didn't come back to Eastport to ruin her life. Tommy says that's not why he's there and says that Katie was an active participant in the kissing. She asks him again what he was doing in Mr. Gatch's office. She gives up and starts kissing Tommy.

Tommy starts kissing her back, but then tells her that they have to talk. She tells him talking is overrated. Tommy says he will either be her boyfriend or he's gone. He tells her to think about and let him know after the pageant. As Tommy walks away, Sidney comes out of the tent. Tommy tells Sidney hi. Sidney still doesn't realize who Tommy is...
