Chapter Two Summary
Chapter Two, Now
Lena attends a DFA (Deliria-Free America) meeting for the youth. She leaves forgetting her glove. She goes back to look for it knowing that she won't be able to get another. When she goes back she sees a projector showing photos of mountains and the ocean and she thinks about the life that she used to live, a life that has now been forgotten and buried, like her true identity. She notices Julian Fineman, the DFA director's son, watching her. She's startled by and a little nervous from this. He asks her if she's seen the mountains and she tells him only from before.
She leaves the conference center and goes back to Brooklyn where she has a cold, small apartment stocked with fake IDs.
