Captain Dominika Egorova

Captain Dominika Egorova is the heroine of this novel. She is an officer with the SVR who works as a double agent for the CIA. Dominika’s boss, Zyuganov, in the SVR is very jealous and paranoid that Dominika will earn more credit with Putin than he has. This fear was jumpstarted when Dominika identified Korchnoi as a mole. Zyuganov had also worked on the project but Dominika beat him to unveiling the traitor.

Dominika earns even more resentment from Zyuganov when she successfully recruits an Iranian nuclear scientist who tells Dominika about a special project going on in Iran’s Natanz uranium-enrichment facility. Zyuganov has the first attempt made on Dominika’s life after she reports to him about her successful recruitment of the nuclear scientist. Zyuganov makes another attempt on Dominika’s life after she identifies Solovyov as the Russian mole.
