Chapter 13 Summary
The security guards take Pitt to Admiral Hunter. Denver tells Pitt that flooding the compartment of the Starbuck was an "act of genius" (pg.170) to prevent the sub from being moved. They are joined by two more members of the team, Dr. Raymond York and Dr. Elmer Chrysler. Pitt is asked to relate his account of the events aboard the Martha Ann and in his hotel room. Pitt begins with the discovery of the elevation of the sea floor and imparts the whole story to them. The only fact he omits is Summer. When he relates that part about the man with the yellow eyes, the scientists identify him as a Dr. Frederick Moran, an anthropologist who disappeared at sea more than thirty years ago.
