Part 5, Chapter 31 Summary

The next morning Jenny is set in her goals of making Jamie and Claire look like laird's of the land. She first brushes the leaves and sticks out of Jamie's hair and then proceeds to Claire's. Jenny and Mrs. Crook had made two dresses for Claire, one for every day and one for special occasions. Claire is to wear the special occasion dress today.

Jamie and Claire sit together as Jamie empties the contents of his Sporran so that she might have some jewelry to wear. The pears Jamie had given her after their wedding came pouring out. Claire thought she had forgotten them. Claire notices the bible again inscribed with Alexander William Roderick MacGregor and asks again how Jamie is to repay some debt in relation to this bible.
