Necromancy

Necromancy represents the forbidden magic of the world. Many people are genuinely surprised that Z’s mother would be willing to place a zombification spell on Z, especially when she did not give it to any of her other children. Books on necromancy are forbidden and teachers such as Mr. Weber are unable to speak on the subject. The reader also sees that Z themselves is banned for performing it on school grounds, even though they have never given any indication of using necromancy. This and the punishment for supposedly stealing the necromancy books shows how serious the crime is for practicing the art and how unusual it is for Z to be an undead.
