Summary

In Chapter 13, Z wakes up on the floor of the kitchen and realizes it is the first time they have been unconscious since they died. Mrs. Dunnigan arrives later and is beginning to recover from her illness. When Z cleans their face, they see new skin underneath and wonders if it is because of the potion. Outside, Mrs. Dunnigan finds a box filled with straw and salt. She pulls out something that looks like leather and begins to cry. She leaves for a bit and Z finds a letter calling Mrs. Dunnigan a Selkie and telling her to go back to the ocean. Mrs. Dunnigan explains that she met Cassie when she was studying seals and let Cassie see her after Mrs. Dunnigan watched Cassie swim like a seal.
