Summary
In Chapter 44, Trinity helps Melody get ready for the dance, held on Friday night. Melody is glad Diane insisted on packing the red dress. The weather has completely cleared. Melody thinks about the dance, but “Instead of trying to imagine how that would work for me, I just rolled with it” (303). She feels more confident because she has had such awesome experiences over the past week. She discovers plywood has been put together to form a dance floor near the campfire with ramps for those who use wheelchairs or walkers. Melody watches the fireflies. Cassie announces it is time to dance. Someone asks, “How we gonna dance if we can't walk,” expressing Melody's concern as well.
