Summary

Chapter 24 opens on Tuesday morning. Melody discovers their art has been put on the cabin walls. Athena points out the one dot of yellow on her pink creation. Jocelyn touches her painting, “like she was feeling the colors and the bumpiness of the clumped paint” (166). Melody touches hers as well, discovering the different colors have different textures. Just as Trinity announces they will go for a walk today, Karyn screams. She is terrified and finally says she saw a snake. They discover it is a corn snake. Jocelyn picks it up and the snake winds around her forearm. She says her brother has several corn snakes. They discuss that they are technically invading the snake's “habitat,” that it is not poisonous, and all touch it before Jocelyn releases it.
