Summary
In November, the twins come down with a stomach virus. Henry is horrified by the amount of vomit and the dirty clothes. Naomi handles it without flinching. Henry grasps at the chance to go to the store for crackers and ginger ale. Mrs. Turner notes that Henry has not been in the store recently. He says Naomi is doing their shopping. Mrs. Turner tells him about the confrontation between Naomi and Mr. Turner. She says Naomi is welcome back now that they know she is Henry's kin. Henry slips back into the house and leaves the items he bought, then drives to Kilgore, the nearest town with liquor. He comes back late and gives Naomi a radio. The twins are excited about it, but it does not work. He collects his tools, angry that he had been duped into buying a broken radio...
