Summary
Chapter 27
In Chapter 27, Emma stares out at the ocean thinking of all the comments her mother made to her over years. She thought that she has escaped them and that finding success in college would silence the doubt in her. Now she is alone and the remarks swirl in her head. She goes for a swim to get them to stop. She sinks to the bottom thinking to end her life. She hears someone tell her to hold onto life.
She swims to the service with a new lease on life. She lets go of her insecurities. She begins to run along the beach to get away from who she was. She ends up several miles down the beach.
