John Glynn

John Glynn is the author and narrator of Out East. He is an only child who is very close to his parents and extended family. John is 27 at the time the book takes place. He lives with roommates in Manhattan, has a university degree, and works at a publishing house. John has always wanted to have a meaningful romantic relationship like his parents. However, at 27, he has never had a long-term relationship. This causes him great anxiety and he is often consumed with dark thoughts. He worries that he is fundamentally unlovable and incapable of feeling the kind of love that he has always dreamed of.
