The Apartment

The majority of Miri’s narrative passages are set in her apartment, that she shares with Leah. The couple moved into the flat several years before the narrative present and decorated it with furniture that belonged to Miri’s mother. When Leah returns from her expeditions, she spends most of her time in the bathroom. While they used to spend time together in the living room, watching movies on the floor, the couple no longer occupies the space in the same manner. The disparities in their use of the space mirrors the disparities in their emotional needs.

The Submarine
