Summary
Allison and Karen decide to go visit their father before the holiday weekend. Karen describes her parents, how they used to be, and why they held the beliefs that they did. She also talks about her grandparents and why they were so stern, having grown up during war time. Karen feels guilty that she does not visit their father more often but Allison reassures her that he is not lucid enough to notice.
When they arrive at the home, his career, Olga tells them that she was showing him a picture album. He follows their voices with his eyes but cannot move much and does not speak.
