Bradley Headstone runs into Rogue Riderhood, who realizes the man is looking for Eugene Wrayburn. Riderhood says he spoke to Wrayburn, who made jokes at his expense. Headstone, disguised as a bargeman, continues to follow Wrayburn. He later returns after discovering Wrayburn is staying the night at the Angler's Inn. When Bradley goes out again, he discovers Wrayburn has met with Lizzie Hexam. Headstone is so enraged, his nose begins to bleed.
