Summary
Domi picks up Bird, who is finally reunited with Sadie. She drives them to a remote cabin that her father built and returns to the city. Bird and Sadie enjoy exploring the woods and pond, building a fire, and spending time together outside of their strictly-controlled society. They ponder Margaret’s plan and Bird admits that he once hated his mother for leaving him, but has now forgiven her. They use newspapers with headlines from the Crisis to light a fire.
Meanwhile, Margaret puts her protest into action. She has created a computer program that will broadcast audio to each of the 2,011 bottle caps that she has scattered around the city.
