Lewis and Clark High School
The high school is the first site of tragedy in the novel. It is where the most people die and where the lives of the four main characters change forever. Throughout the novel, it serves as a reminder of all the loss the students and their families have suffered. It is a physical symbol of the trauma that afflicts all associated with it.
Timber Creek Recreational Center
When the students return to their education at Timber Creek Recreational Center instead of Lewis and Clark High School they are once again reminded of just how much their lives have changed. It is the building the students must go instead of the school they were accustomed to when classes resume after the shooting. Timber Creek is the place where Christina, Zola, Matt, and Nick learn to move past the tragedies and get back to whatever normalcy...
