Summary
Chapter 13 is a newspaper article about the most recent house fire. The fire has killed the parents of another girl murdered in the school shooting, and, like the fire that killed Caroline Black’s parents, it remains unexplained. Two days after the deaths of Caroline Black’s parents, another student’s parents have lost their lives in a mysterious fire. The shooter’s only known friend has been brought in by police for questioning to determine if he is guilty or knows if Caleb was working with someone else. The only other lead police have are the effects of the dead shooter himself.
