Summary

Chapter 5 is another newspaper article, this time about a house fire that kills the parents of one of the students murdered during the school shooting. Hours after the community vigil to memorialize the victims of the shooting, Caroline Black’s family dies in a fire that destroys their home. They are the only two victims. A neighbor having trouble sleeping due to anguish over the school shooting is the one who called emergency services.
