The Occultist Book
Astrid’s occultist book is a representation of Marion’s obsession with power and inability to see outside of her own desires. Dana frequently mentions that she and Fee never actually see into Astrid’s book, though Marion herself is convinced that she is only being shown spells that she needs. This causes Marion’s delusion that Astrid cares for her, and her unwillingness to let go of the book during her descent to Hell shows that the obsession never truly goes away. Eventually, Marion passes on her own version of the occultist book to Ivy, though Ivy is willing to hide it away, while Marion was never able to let her desire go.
