Summary
In Chapter Eight, Ivy finds things she remembers from the cigar box, as well as items she has never seen. At the very bottom, she sees a sheet from her old sketchbook with a drawing of Billy Paxton marked for the summer before seventh grade and the embarrassing Incident.
Frustrated by the lack of answers, Ivy decides to confront her mother and bikes downtown to Fee and Dana’s store, The Small Shop, but finds it dark past opening time. Using an employee key, Ivy descends into the cellar, but only finds the things they sell to make people’s lives better. However, when Ivy moves further into the shop, she finds blood with a tuft of rabbit fur and attempts to call both Dana and Fee without success.
