Summary
Mrs. Ravenswood’s ESL class celebrates Ben and his family becoming citizens. They had a party with pink lemonade and chocolate chip cookies. Jude begins to feel as though life is getting slightly easier.
Jude and Miles play with a Rubik’s cube at play practice while Layla puts the finishing touches on the set murals of the French countryside. Uncle Mazin comes to collect Sarah and Jude because Mama has gone into labor.
Amal is born and when Jude holds her for the first time, “my heart feels like it is going to burst. I didn’t know it was possible to love one tiny person…She makes Baba cry when he sees her through the computer, his arms aching to hold her” (371).
