Summary
Jude writes a letter to Fatima. She tells her about how she plans to try out for the school play. Michelle is impressed at Jude’s Arabic writing. She wishes Mazin had taught Sarah.
Mama finds out that she is having a baby girl. They are overjoyed until they encounter a woman at the hospital who tells Mama that she does not need to wear her hijab anymore because they are free in the United States. Mama does not understand the English conversation, but Jude tells the woman that they are free and happy.
Jude is now on winter break for two weeks, and she is excited to practice for the play. Jude goes sledding with Sarah and her friends. When she mentions that she and Layla are interested in the play, the girls are surprised. Sarah is not encouraging of Jude and Layla...
