Summary
In the Prologue, Edmond Kirsch (a scientist, inventor, and atheist) was apprehensive as he traveled up the mountain to Montserrat Abbey to make a presentation to renowned leaders in three different religions. Bishop Antonio Valdespino of the Catholic Church, who was also a friend and counselor of the King of Spain, greeted Kirsch. In the library of Montserrat Kirsch was introduced to Rabbi Yehuda Köves (a prominent Jewish philosopher) and Syed al-Fadl (an Islamic scholar). Kirsch showed them a video that he said he planned to make public in about a month’s time. Kirsch claimed to want their input on how they thought those who believed in God might react to his announcement. What they did not know was that Kirsch planned to publicly play the video, which he believed would prove all religions were wrong, in three days.
