Chapters 9 and 10 Summary
Dallas goes outside to keep an eye out for Mrs. Icove and to call Roarke. She gives him a rundown of what they found, and tells him she'll be late. She is still hoping he'll find the money angle that explains everything. Avril arrives, and Dallas steers her inside where she interviews her. When she is done, Avril is given an escort back to the Hamptons to her children, and Peabody gets into the car with Dallas who hands her the recorded interview and asks her to listen to it. Peabody does, and they discuss Avril's demeanor and responses. When they reach Dallas's house, she sends Peabody home in her car asking her to return at 7am. Dallas goes inside and straight to her office where Roarke joins her moments later. He pours himself a brandy and her a coffee, and...
