Structure
Following an introduction in which the author outlines her reasons for writing the book and for presenting her commentary and analysis in the way she does, said commentary and analysis are presented in a series of ten chapters, each one focusing on a particular philosophy and practice related to the growth of resilience, in individuals and in communities. For the most part, within each chapter, there is a similar structural pattern – or, at least, the inclusion of the same sorts of information.
First, at some point in the chapter (usually in the beginning), there is a brief narrative of a person other than the author struggling with a particular form of diversity that embodies the aspect of developing resilience being dealt with in that particular chapter.
