Summary
In Chapter 12, the dancer is at the airport on her return to Dublin. The photographer says their night together was incredibly important to him. The dancer points out problems. She considers the photographer her best friend and does not want to risk that relationship. She also knows Samuel would not react well. The next day, they talk on the phone again. The photographer jokes that he will be happy to “break this dry patch” (63). She says she broke hers the previous day upon arriving in Dublin. He lies when he says it is fine. She points out they are just friends. Later the day, police stop the photographer on his way to a friend's house. The photographer fits the description of a robber. The police do not truly listen as they empty his bag. They release him. He goes home instead of joining...
