Summary

The mountain lion remembers how he had watched the kill sharer kill a deer right in front of him. Then, the kill sharer had looked straight at the mountain lion, inviting him to join. They had eaten the deer together, staring into one another’s eyes. The mountain lion spies on the two men in the cave as they have sex.

After the mountain lion first met the kill sharer, they would meet back up every day by the deer and eat together. The kill sharer always went away somewhere and came back with matted hair. The mountain lion saved him the last bite, but the kill sharer did not return, so the mountain lion decided to cross the “long death” and move on. The mountain lion was too frightened to cross. When morning came, he saw the body of the kill sharer...
