Richard Bach

Richard Bach is the author, narrator and main character of the novel. He is married to Leslie Parrish-Bach and both are pilots and writers. Richard and Leslie have a strange experience while flying that allows them to meet themselves when they were younger. Richard is at first leery of the situation but agrees to explore at his wife's urging.

Richard had been an Air Force pilot who flew fighters that were used to kill many people. He also has an interest in subject like ESP and out-of-body experiences and they are flying to a conference that is about related topics. The experience in spacetime is a learning experience for Richard that allows him to experience different life paths. He is drawn closer to his wife when she dies in an alternate life and he fights to bring her back. Richard learn how much he needs his wife...
