Summary
Tanya, Turpin, and Oberon scramble to escape the river girl. She tells Tanya that nothing will happen to Ratty as long as he gives back the memory he stole. Turpin mutters the world “Morghul,” and more of the bridge collapses. Nessie drags the river girl and Turpin underwater. Trapped, Tanya hits Nessie with the chain of her dog leash. Nessie drops Turpin who swims for safety as Nessie grabs Tanya. A magical bird attacks Nessie, allowing Tanya to escape. As the bird leaves, Tanya wonders if the fairies that tormented her are actually her guardians. Tanya asks about the man and the word Morghul, but Turpin says nothing.
The two travel back home and Tanya says they will have to repair Turpin’s wing. Tanya tells her mother the bridge collapsed (as her mother cannot see Turpin) and is scolded...
