Ellen states that February might be the only suitable month to bury a loved one, when the ground is still a bit frozen and the big holidays have passed. Kate has started to have to wear diapers after soiling the bed on a few occasions. Also, Teresa arrives to hook up a morphine drip directly into Kate's catheter. Now, Kate simply needs to press a button and morphine will be injected directly into her blood stream. When Teresa arrives, Ellen asks her if it's possible for her mother to overdose with this machine. Teresa says it is not likely. Halley McPhearson comes to visit and to drop off a photo of her newborn baby. She has an emotional breakdown as she leaves the house, weeping uncontrollably - the first person to cry about Kate's illness who is not a family member...
