Point of View

One to Watch is told in the third-person point-of-view. About two-thirds of the novel is told through Bea’s perspective and focuses entirely on her feelings and view she has of the world. These sections are written in the traditional way and the narrator clearly occupies Bea’s head. This creates an intimate narrative where all of Bea’s worries and insecurities are focused on. The reader is privy to everything that goes on in her head. From her worries of kissing Sam during their date in Disneyland to her thoughts that the other men might not like her because of her body.
