Point of View
Jojo Moyes tells her novel “One Plus One” in the third-person omniscient perspective, and tells certain chapters of the novel in the first-person omniscient perspective. In each chapter, the narrator focuses on a specific character in relation to the overall course of events, allowing the reader glimpses into their minds, thoughts, and feelings that are sometimes not expressed, and allowing the reader a God’s eye view into moments, situations, conversations, and events that the other characters themselves may not be aware of. This allows the reader to know everything going on at any given time in the novel, and provides for a greater depth not only in events, but in the rendering of characters.
