Summary
In Chapter 25, Bronwyn does not think Nate is responsible for Simon’s murder. She is worried, though, that he will not stand a chance with a public defender for a lawyer. Not knowing what else to do, she calls Eli. She begs him to take the case and he tries to decline but finally agrees to consult with Nate’s parents. Bronwyn and Maeve drive to the Motel 6 where Nate’s mother is staying. She is not there so Bronwyn leaves a note.
At home, there are news vans lining their street. The reporters have asked Bronwyn’s parents if she and Nate are romantically involved and Bronwyn tells her mother most of the truth. Her mother allows her to go ahead with her plan to connect Nate’s mother with Eli. A short while later, Ellen Macauley returns Bronwyn’s call...
