Summary

In Chapter 23, narrated by Addy on July 14, Keely calls Addy to wish her a happy one-third birthday, a celebration Addy and Nate made up so they could have a party. They talk briefly about their relationship and decide to remain friends for a while.

Addy’s mother notices that Addy is in an unusually good mood when she leaves for the party. Addy does not want to tell her mother she is considering a homosexual relationship, but her mother guesses. Addy is shocked when her mother calls after her that Keely is a lucky girl.

In Chapter 24, narrated by Addy on July 14, Addy joins Maeve, Phoebe, Knox, Bronwyn, Nate, and the others at the subdued party as they talk about Reggie’s death and its similarities with Phoebe’s kidnapping. Bronwyn suggests that Reggie’s death might have been an accident.
