Ruby Miliken was raised in Boston with her mother and her mother's sister Ruby. In the beginning of the book Ruby is on a plane moving from Boston to Los Angeles, California. Ruby's best friend, Lizzie, and boyfriend, Roy, both live in Boston.

Los Angeles.

Ruby is moving to Los Angeles, California as the book opens. She doesn't like it in LA at first or at her father's home in Hollywood. Los Angeles is where Ruby's new high is located and where Whip's home is in Hollywood.

Lakewood High School.

Lakewood High School is Ruby's new school in California. Ruby meets Colette at Lakewood and takes Dream Interpretation class at the school. Ruby also tries out for and makes the school play.

Dream Interpretation Class.
