Summary
The father sells the house in Kansas and taken both the narrator and his brother to live in New Mexico. During the trip, the father lets the narrator’s brother, who is almost in high school, drive part of the way. They move into a small apartment in Albuquerque, and for the first time in their lives the narrator and his brother have to share a room. The father’s plan is to work from home as a financial advisor. He has one big account back in Kansas that he says will hold them over until he can get some new clients. While the boys are unpacking, their father calls them up into the bathroom and instructs them to rub lotion on his body while he is showering, which they accept as a typical request.
When they finish unpacking, their father takes the boys...
