Summary
Chapter 41
Denise sits on the porch of the lake house and waits for Rich to return from fishing. When he does, Rich invites Denise to help him cook the fish, giving her hope that everything will work out between them.
Chapter 42
Casey asks Silver to stay out of her life and to allow Denise to marry Rich.
Chapter 43
Silver is too tired to get off the elevator in his building, but the image of being found dead there inspires him to move.
Chapter 44
Rueben takes Silver to the bat mitzvah of a girl Casey once babysat for. Silver goes only in hopes of seeing Casey. At the celebration, Elaine yells at Silver for the first time in years for his selfishness in choosing not to have the surgery. Silver goes to leave, but is pulled into the celebration by the performing magician...
