Summary
Chapter 31
Silver and Casey arrive at dinner on Friday at Rueben and Elaine’s house to discover that Denise has also been invited, along with Silver’s brother Chuck, and his family. At first, Silver accepts the excuse that Elaine simply wanted to see the whole family together, but later comes to understand that it is a kind of intervention. Silver warns his brother not to do it, but Chuck tells Silver how he misses their old relationship and is upset that Silver has cut them out of his life. Silver turns on Chuck, telling him that he felt like Chuck was rubbing his perfect family and happiness into his face. A fight breaks out, and Chuck stands to leave. Silver insists on going with him. Chuck and Silver walk down to a local pond and talk about death and their relationship...
