Chapter 11

Silver goes to see Lily sing again, thinking of approaching her but not doing it.

Chapter 12

Casey drives Silver and herself to the Early Intervention Clinic, a local abortion clinic. Silver pays the fee and sits with Casey as she fills out the paperwork. As they talk, Silver begins to feel overheated and as though the tinnitus, the ringing in his ears from years of playing the drums, has increased in volume. Silver presses his hands to his ears in an attempt to equalize the pressure and is surprised when the ringing goes away. However, he can't speak. Then, he passes out. He wakes up in the hospital.

Denise, Silver’s ex-wife, is sitting beside him in the hospital room. At first Silver cannot speak. He recalls the wedding at which he met Denise.
