Chapter Seven Summary

Stephanie collects her first check from Connie for the capture of Clarence Sampson. Delighted to be able to buy food again, Stephanie also sets aside some of the money to install a security system in the Jeep. Stephanie hopes that the alarm will alert her when Morelli tries to take the Jeep back. Taking Ranger's advice, Stephanie visits Al's Auto Body and has the alarm installed.

Stark Street is a scary place but one that is necessary for Stephanie to visit. Although Stephanie avoids the gym, she questions two prostitutes who work on the corner. Lula and Jackie, both full figured black women, are quick to speak their minds but reluctant to give out any information.
