The Bus
Laurie first sees Jack when she is on a bus on her way home from work. This is why Jack gets the name "bus boy" before Laurie and Sarah know his real name. The setting of the bus shows the importance of grabbing opportunities when they arise and Laurie's difficulty when it comes to taking action. Because of the fact that she does not do any of the things that she could have done to make contact with Jack, both she and Jack suffer. She also causes others to reap consequences because neither she nor Jack can commit to other people once they see each other again.
