Laurie
Laurie is the narrative’s protagonist and one of its narrators. She is a woman who knows what she wants, but she does not know how to get it. For example, she wants a job as a writer. However, she has a job that she hates working in a hotel. When she sees Jack for the first time, she wants to talk to him, but she does not know how to do so when the opportunity arises. She only thinks of what she could have and should have done when it is too late.
