Summary

On December 21, 2008, Laurie is on a bus on her way home after work. She is thinking abut how she feels and observing the people on the bus when the bus stops. As she watches people get on, she notices a man reading her book. Their gazes lock, and she falls in love. She thinks that he feels the same. Laurie considers getting off the bus, but she decides that it is too difficult to get by the other passengers. So she decides to mentally will him to get on the bus, and it looks as if he is going to board. But, just as he moves, the bus door closes. The bus drives away. Afterward, Laurie thinks that she could have put a sign on the window or opened the window and yelled her name.. At the end of the chapter, she thinks of...
